Instead of giving their own hunger the heave-ho at lunchtime, office workers at Cardiff Waterside are spending their break feeding two new additions who have taken to swan-ing around the bay.

Following the delivery of two baby cygnets to a family of swans, staff at the bayside business location have christened the newcomers Caspian and Scott- after Caspian Point and Scott Harbour, two of the landmark buildings on the Grade A office estate.

Laura Clements of Cardiff Waterside said, "We’re used to new arrivals at Cardiff Waterside but generally in the form of businesses moving in and not the arrival of two cute cygnets.

"Cardiff Waterside has a really nice environment and office workers from companies such as HBOS, Arup and New Law will often sit down by the water when the weather is nice to enjoy some sun.

"I think Caspian and Scott have cottoned on to this because rather than nesting in the bird reserve wetlands by St David’s Hotel, they’ve chosen to live in the full view in the water right next to the Cardiff Waterside estates office. They seem to like showing off and are really enjoying all the attention they’re getting from staff."

Sarah Potts, a litigation assistant at New Law, explained, "The new arrivals have certainly caused a buzz in the office and everyone can’t wait to get down to the water to see them at lunchtimes. It’s a great location to work in and it’s not every office worker that gets to enjoy the local wildlife on their break."

Cardiff Waterside offers 460,000 sq ft of Grade A office space at the heart of the capital’s waterfront across seven flexible, contemporary buildings. Planning consent has been granted for another 500,000 sq ft with 3 Assembly Square, expected to be Wales’ greenest office building, currently under construction and due for completion in spring 2009.
